the diary of a [newbie] rock climber

i've recently discovered the intoxication that is rock climbing. what follows is a collection of random thoughts, experiences and images related to my newbie rock climbing adventures. note: climbing is a dangerous activity. these are only my opinions and shouldn't be substituted for good sense and education. climb safely and at your own risk.

gear reviews!

a friend recently asked me to suggest some basic climbing gear that he might purchase to begin his newbie climbing adventures. that got me thinking. i've been using some gear over the last year that i definitely have some strong opinions about. why not write some reviews on here? so i am. nothing super technical. my goal is simply to tell stories about how my gear has or hasn't worked for me. i have two fiveten shoes and a mammut harness that are in the review queue. look for my first thoughts in the next few days.

until then, onward and upward!

pulling my cyber weight - vaycay and a film

i know, i know. i'm becoming one of those bloggers. you know the ones. they start off all gung ho and for a few months publish some pretty neat content. then, suddenly, their posts go from weekly to monthly to zzzzz.

i promise you, dear invisible readers, that i'll do a better job. i have fun blogging and enjoy sharin'. but can you really blame me? it's so warm out these days. since my last blog entry, i've been on the road quite a bit -- a four days trip to moab, utah and another three day trip to joshua tree. i'll add some pics and details in the next few days.

for now, check out this pretty cool climbing film. it'’s about kick-ass 10 year old climber cicada jenerik. uh huh, yea. she has some crazy strong fingers. the movie's free to watch courtesy of atomfilms.
